Monday 8/17

So apparently on Friday after the bank incident, the boss guy at the bank came by the BOE office where I work and apologized to Yoshinobu (I had already gone home). The dude said that I can actually get a regular person account, not an foreign person one… So I needed to go back to the bank and switch over my accounts. When I arrived at the bank with Yoshinobu, everyone was very smiley and welcome-y to me… creeeeepy. smile and nod. smile and nod.

The boss guy came up to me and Yoshinobu and did one of those… 80degree bows all like… gomen nasai it will never happen again. He gave me his business card which was mostly kanji so I had no idea what it said, but I looked at it and pretended to read it, as I learned to do in Japanese etiquette class at Tokyo Orientation. Apparently the guy got spankings from the head branch in Naha because they’re losing customers or something..

Before I left they also gave me omiyage! I was like… score. When I got in the car I was all excited to see what it was, expecting it to be cookies or snacks or something… only to find out it was… toilet seat cleaners and a tissue box. speechless but thankful?
